So here I sit on Sunday afternoon, absolutely knackered. I spent all last night in hospital with my little girl, with potential Swine Flu. She's home safe now, very ill, but not with piggy cold!
Anyway, what's happened this week?
Let's start with M1 Team England. Logistically this has been a nightmare at present. With the pending fights on 15th August, you would hope that we would have a team in place and ready to fight, unfortunately due to injuries, international duties, lack of reserve fighters willing to step up and fighters being restricted by athletic commissions, we still don't have 100% confirmed team. The fighters I can definitely confirm are Si Philips at WW and Matt Thorpe at MW. I'm pretty sure that Tom Blackledge will be returning at LHW and equally sure that Rob won't be fighting for us this time, due to his fight on Affliction Trilogy. LW still proves a challenge, with injuries causing us a problem... so you will have to stay tuned to this one!
We've also had a change...
Been a lurker on this site for a while, but thought id comment. Really enjoying your blogs mate. have to agree about the matchmaking thing but fair play to scraps... a win over speedy is a great achievement for him. I dont get onto CW forums much anymore so am a little out of the loop but was good to read that, the boy done good!!
re: the M1 challenge, haven't any of the guys who repped the UK on TUF stepped up? Have they all been snapped up by other organisations? Maybe Jeff or Stapes or someone can come in and do a job at LW for the team?
ps: It'd be awesome if you get the time to do some coaching articles for MMA striking on here. Be an interesting read.
Hi Graham, Hope you are well!
James had a blinding result, very pleased for him and I told him so yesterday. Still doesn't excuse the reckless matchmaking... but hey, some promoters just want to see a fight!
tbh, no one has stepped up from the TUF UK team, in fact virtually no one has shown any interest in beig involved. Not sure if they have been waiting to be asked or not?... doesn't really work that way!
Stapes was under consideration, but is focusing on getting back in the UFC. At the time, the Affliction sponsorship could of caused problems... obviously now, it would of been fine!
Probably not going to put some training tips on here. So many other bloggers, potentially with better knowledge than me... so I am going to stick with the usual drivial I spout
See ya soon
Aaron
