Mu-Sa Fightwear

As anyone who trains regularly knows, washing and maintaining your kit can be a nightmare when you haven’t got Mum (or a willing and understanding wife) to do it for you. Piles of sweaty shorts and rash vests pile up and fester as the week drifts by and the laundry basket develops its own green tinted weather system. This is made all the worse when your ‘favourite’ shorts are dirty or still in the washer and I’m positive I’m not the first person to have fished a wet pair out and banged them in the dryer for 5 minutes before training (hey, they’re going to get wet with sweat so what matter if they are damp to start with?). Oh for someone to provide some extras... some spare shorts... another rash guard, some new gloves... just for a break from the damp leather and mouldy shorts.
Some time ago I wrote a blog about potential sponsorship and while the guys here at the HitPit helped me out with a few bits and pieces nothing much else came from it... until recently. Through MMAHitPit.com I was given a contact at a new company based in Barnsley called Mu-Sa. I contacted Charlie Green, the owner, who invited me up for a visit to see the company’s home and training facility. So one Saturday I headed up north and spent the morning watching a grappling competition they were hosting and chatting to Charlie about all things MMA.
Charlie is a 20 year veteran of Tae Kwon Do and Mu-Sa (Korean for ‘Warrior’) started out producing TKD uniforms, pads and equipment before moving to MMA. Charlie has recently employed a BJJ coach and is hoping to extend his provision for MMA at his gym before building a fight team. As well as having a nice, well set up training facility and warehouse, Charlie and his wife were hospitable and pleasant and clearly easy to work with. So we discussed sponsorship and the type of kit Mu-Sa would be providing. Initially Charlie told me there would be gloves, shorts, rash vests, hoodies, t shirts and tracksuits with other equipment to come.
Last Wednesday I made my second trip up the M1 to the home of Mu-Sa to pick up my first batch of fresh kit. Good to his word Charlie and Mu-Sa provided me with exactly what he had promised and I went to training that night laden with shiny new kit still in the wrappers. The rash guards were first class, a good fit and tough, without being as thick as a wetsuit and the shorts and gloves were also hard wearing and comfortable. Having worn various brands such as Sprawl, Clinch Gear and Tapout I was very pleased with how well the Mu-Sa kit compared to such well known brands. With other designs and colours coming soon I would imagine Mu-Sa will quickly establish itself as a provider of good quality hard wearing MMA equipment.
Thanks once again to Charlie and the others at Mu-Sa and MMAHitPit for establishing the initial contact. The shorts, rash vests, gloves and hoody in the pictures were all provided by Mu-Sa.
The MMA range will all be available online soon at www.mu-sa.co.uk
