Lengs signature will be mine all mine01 Feb 2010 7:36PMSooo,
Today I decided to do some strength training early and train some sub
grappling on the night ( gonna try to do drill some new techniques I
have picked up and do loads of 5 min flow rolling rounds and rotate with
everyone who's doing padwork ) I can't actually walk that well due to
ripping a big chunk out of my heel on the corner of a ring
while sparring on saturday morning ( hurts like fuck and it's a
nightmare getting my shoes on / off ) so I think I'll sit the padwork
out tonight. I'd also like to add that I had an excellent sparring
session on saturday apart from when a 6ft 7 lad named Dan boxed my
fucking head off and left me with a 2 day headache and a bruised conk. I
was like a shit wanderlei silva swinging wild overhands trying to reach
the fucking giraffes head. Note to self - Move your head more and hit
the streak of piss with some viscious left hooks to the body next time (
I sincerely hope Dan isn't reading this ) if he is I'd better start
getting the migralieves in now for this weeks sessions lol.
Anyway I managed some pretty decent numbers today ( decent compared to
Lengs but probably pretty shitty to your average person ).
Deadlifts 140 1 x 3- Probably could have gone a little heavier but my
back twinged a little on the way down on the final rep so decided to
leave it there ( I dont want to give Rich the satisfaction of saying ' I
told you so ' :) ).
Clean and press - 34k 4 x 3 - Was actually pretty comfortable but the
next dumbell up is 38 which is probably a little too heavy for me at the
mo. Happy with that though.
Weighted chins - 22k 4 x 3 - Struggled a little on the last rep of last
set. Confident I could do 3 reps with 25 as didn't reach failure until
last set. We'll see soon I guess
Dumbell press - 42's 2 x 3, 2 x 2 For some reason I struggled with the
42's today which is very odd as I pissed them last time ? Hmmm...anyway
that's Lengs weakest lift so I'm not too worried.
I decided to text Leng and boast about my new numbers to which he
replied ' Your childish psychological mind games wont work on me old man
' or words to that effect. He is fucking shitting it now as we agreed
on letting the winner choose the losers sig on cagewarriors which should
be fun for a while !
Anyway I'm off to train and will update again soon. Will be taking some
training pics as well to put up on here, spice it up a little bit. Adios
!

Blog 227 Jan 2010 11:29AMWell seeing as my arch nemesis Leng has done a new blog slagging me off
I thought I should counter with my own ! I guess I'll start with the
impending strength challenge we have going on. I can't wait, it should
be fun. I won't stoop to Mike's level and start name calling though as
I'm too mature for that but I will say....Ah fuck it. You're going to
get smashed you fat, gay, spiky haired twat. It's going to be hard
squeezing all the strength training into my already busy schedule
buuut I am having some time off work this month due to unused holidays
though which is an absolute godsend and will ensure my victory.
Todays blog will be focused on well....Today, I've had a very busy day.
Mother in law was had little Theo so I had had a full day to myself. I
went to the local roidhead gym for my first strength session ( for mine
and Lengs upcoming battle ). Went Okay-ish but dont think I had enough
food in me, I got my numbers ( which I'm not revealing to Leng although
I did wind him up the other day pretending I'd already done the workout
) but almost killed myself with a misjudged dumbell press. The weights
were in lbs but had no markings on them except a few that were done in
chalk LOL. Managed to find the right ones in the end much to the
delight of the massive fucker who I asked to spot me about 8 times and
kept saying nope too heavy....nope too light..sorry mate....( Pretty
sure he wanted to spark me clean out but he did remain calm ).
I then went food shopping and was wounded when I discovered morrisons
had no spicy tomato mackarel left AGAIN. Fucking wankers buy about 50
boxes of normal and about 2 of the much more tasty and popular spicy
variety, If I dont get there on delivery day some other twat has always
bought them. Pisses me off royally. I then visited my girl in hospital
and was over the moon when I discovered they had actually fucking fed
her for once without having to be pestered every 5 mins and was now
taking a 2,000 calorie bag ! She looked and felt great too which made
my day.....and then I did something I haven't done in a LONG time. I
played basketball with a few friends and I FUCKING loved it ! I was
b-ballin' shot callin' str8 up breaking ankles, leaving fire trails
and raining 3's from everywhere and dunkin allover fools.....kind of. I
missed about 90% of my shots, found out I cant reach the rim anymore (
barely even reach the fucking net ) and spent half of the time trying
to put the ball behind my back / through my legs in a last
ditch attempt to look cool and maybe get some ooooooh's from the
spectating lads. Which resulted in me getting it stripped almost
everytime making me look a right bell end in the process. Great cardio
session though, my fucking achilles tendons are in bits now and I have
a thai session at 10 in the morning. That bloke off Hostel will
have fuck all on me after tomorrow I'll tell ya that for nowt !
Anyway if I'm still walking after the thai session ( which I have asked
for it to be 6 x 3's on the pads followed by JUST technique work ) Cant
be done with all that 100 jabs, 100 crosses, 100 jab crosses shite.
Want to stay relatively fresh as I'm hoping to have some good rolls
with all the lads on the night at jiu-jitsu. That is after some
drilling, drilling and more drilling of some basic shit. I think I'm
guilty of doing too many different techniques in 1 session to try and
please the lads who have been there longer. I watched a vid of Lloyd
Irvin stressing the importance of drilling and although I know how
important it is I still tend to neglect that side of it. Sometimes I
need someone to constantly remind me for some reason. Hopefully from
now on that will stop and they'll be drilling everything til they have
nightmares about it.
Anyway that will do for now, it's getting late and I have some episodes
of 'V' to watch. Before I go I think I'll leave a little tidbit for Mr.
Leng. I managed 3 wide grip chins with 20k today, put that in your pipe
and smoke it fatty. Gimme 6 weeks and I'll be doing the 30k no danger,
now take ya piddly 6k and fuck off hahaha.
Introduction pt117 Jan 2010 1:21AMHi guys,
I guess I should start with a brief introduction. My name is Jamie
Taylor, I'm 30 and work full time as a health club duty manager. I
recently became a proud father. The shitty nappies and sleepless nights
have been well worth it ! Theo is now 10 month old and already punching
me in the face and laughing at every opportunity so that's a good sign.
Definately going straight on the pads when he turns 1 ;-)
Anyway I love MMA and try to train as much as poss in my spare time. A
big mistake I made was being rushed into fighting pro early on in my
career so I'm stuck with it now ! I am in the same boat as a lot of
other fighters out there, an amateur level fighter with a full time
job but having to fight pro rules fights. Believe me when I say if I
could go back and have LOTS of amateur / semi pro fights I would, but I
won't go into that as we have all heard it a 1,000 times. The sport is
by far my biggest passion but really haven't had the time recently to
train as much as I'd like to due to family issues. Obviously competing
in mma has become a thing of the past ( Hopefully this will all change
soon ). I am also an injury magnet, you name a joint...mine is probably
fucked. I blame years of sloppy weight training like a bell end as well
as lots of shady plyos trying to improve my explosiveness / vertical
leap when I was young and into basketball.
Although I realise I pretty much suck balls at every aspect of MMA.
Have done a fair bit of boxing training, same with thai and bits of
wrestling in the past ( always get injured wrestling though ). I guess
my strongest aspect is my jiu-jitsu and I try to focus more on this
when coaching. I help run a beginners mma class twice a week along with
my friend and fellow pro fighter Nathan Boyce. ( Now I know you're
probably thinking...oh great, blind leading the blind ) ! And you're
probably right to an extent. I am not and never will be the next Greg
Jackson. I try to teach my guys the solid basics of each discipline
where possible and encourage them to go elsewhere for their wrestling
etc where needed.
The lads I train understand I don't excel in any area but what I do
know I try to teach the guys to the best of my ability to try get them
all as close to my level which is all they ask for really. If they felt
they were at the point where they weren't learning anymore I'd be more
than happy for them to move on to somewhere they will continue
learning. There really aren't many mma gyms ( if any ) up here in
Middlesbrough so I guess doing the class isn't a bad thing. The guys
who come seem to appreciate the class, tell me that they love it and a
few have picked it up quickly and won grappling matches as well as
amateur / semi pro fights at local comps so I guess there's no harm
done. It also helps my game constantly drilling basics positions,
escapes etc having sparring partners available and tightening
everything up. Plus it's nice to have a bit of craic with fellow mma
enthusiasts without having to get pissed up and go into town wearing
affliction shirts ( Danny John look away now if you're reading this ).
I have done training journals before way back when I was trying to
bodybuild and I thought it was a great motivational tool so I thought
I'd do a blog regarding my MMA training / diet etc...At the moment I am
REALLY struggling to get any training done due to work and the fact
that my girlfriend is in hospital battling cancer. So I guess it was a
pretty dumb move telling my thai coach I wanted to fight on his show in
March ( I had been out for 8 hours getting wankered and had just downed
5 sambucas at the muay-thai christmas party ). Yes I am one of
them twats we all hate when we're out sober that talks complete shit
when he's drunk and shouts everything instead of talking / slavers
allover you.
However.....I'm glad I did. It was the kick up the arse I needed and I
have trained hard since then ( well since 2 weeks ago ) and have
cleaned up my diet substantially. I'm currently sitting at 82k which is
the fattest I have EVER been ( usually walk around at 77k ) and I'm
absolutely disgusted with myself. Since starting the healthy eating
plan I have lost just over 4lb in the last 2 weeks. At the minute my
diet looks something like this :
Breakfast : choc whey, porridge, small banana in water ( shake ) sometimes slice wm toast w/ peanut butter.
Snack : tin of mackarel in spicytomato sauce and an apple, handful of mixed nuts.
Dinner : small portion of wholemeal pasta and tuna with light mayo. Cup green tea.
Tea : chicken breast or turkey and steamed veggies. Cup green tea.
Post training ( if trained ) : usual pw stuff depends if I have made my
own or bought from gym usually around 40g - 60g high gi carbs 25 -
40g whey protein.
Supper : 4 scrambled eggs, teaspoon flax oil.
PART 2
Introduction pt217 Jan 2010 1:19AMI'd just like to add in something which at the moment seems to be my
achilles heel when it comes to dieting, interestingly enough I even saw
the little fuckers in Danielle Wests blog. Mornflake chocolate squares
!!!!!!!!! I didn't think they were popular at all as I get 'em from
Netto and haven't seen them in the larger supermarkets. They are like
little pieces of heaven. I plan to eat a shitload of them when I decide
to have a cheat day though ( got 3 boxes in ready ) I can hear them
beckoning me at this minute but have no fear...their chants fall on
deaf ears...for now :-(
I generally drink around 6 glasses of water and as far as supps go I
take 5g vit c, echenacea, glutamine, creatine ee ( when I remember )
and glucosamine.
Changes a little but generally sticking to that pattern. Possibly not
an ideal diet and now I see from looking at it probably too low calorie
for my training ( Should really work out the calories but I can't be
arsed at the mo, will defo do it at some point, was thinking today
should I be concerned about the amount of oily fish ? hmmmmm ) I'm open
to any suggestions on improving it anyway. I'm shit at cooking and just
grabbed a few healthy things from morrisons the other day.
On the days I have trained ( my mum is a star and minds the little
terror so I can toddle off and train ) I usually have more carbs
earlier in the day / pw out. I have felt GREAT since switching from
crisps for breakfast, as many chocolate bars as humanly possible during
the day, takeaways every single night with 2 cans of dr. pepper
afterwards ( as Adele my gf needed to put on as much weight as possible
before she went in for chemotherapy ) It was fucking nigh on impossible
for me to watch someone else eat a chinese without giving in. See how I
used the word WAS. I am now in control of that little fucking horrible
demonic voice that says ' Goooo oooooon Jamie lad, get them lovely
sugary carbs into ya, it wont make a blind bit of difference to ya body
or even ya training, stop being paranoid '. The first week was BRUTAL
but now I reckon I have the willpower to avoid eating anything shitty.
Soooo.. onto the training plan for my upcoming thai bout. The sad truth
is I haven't even got a plan. The gym has been shut for the past few
weeks as thai coaches are away in thailand and I'm struggling for
training partners due to the shit hours I have got to work with. One
good thing is I work in a gym and can go whenever I please even if its
closed. I decided I'd first focus on my strength as I'm a fucking girl
when it comes to the iron and at the moment I have the cardio of a
pensioner with a severe bout of pneumonia so it's pretty much been
strength - 4 x 4 on compounds ( will switch to more speed strength
stuff as I get closer to fight time ) some form of hiit either sprint
intervals, tabatas etc a lot of stretching ( My flexibility is
borderline rigor-mortis...just ask Andy Ogle ) and some padwork from
whoever is working in the gym at the time that can remotely hold
them. This usually ends with me getting frustrated at the usual noob
pad holder mistakes like pulling them back when you hit them causing
you to hyper-extend your elbow, chest level hooks, turning too far away
from round kicks ensuring you smash your instep off the pad with almost
every shot etc etc...and usually end up hitting the heavy bag for
rounds.
I managed to get hold of a decent partner who can actually hold pads
last week but he got injured with a fractured eye socket so may be out
for a while :-(
Not a great way to train for your first thai fight but come monday I
will be back training at the proper thai gym and hopefully getting my
stand up a little sharper.
I guess I should end my first post with a pic of a hot bird like most
of the other guys do but I can't be arsed and if my girlfriend happened
to come across this blog she would castrate me without blinking. Before
I go I have to mention how inadequate I feel writing this blog as
almost everyone else doing these blogs are far better fighters and
about 1,000 x more intelligent than me ( apart from Mike Leng as he is
obviously borderline retarded ). So if I come across as a bit ignorant,
mind numbingly boring and thick as fuck....it's cos I am. I really
should read more books because like shang tsung said on mortal kombat
3. Knowledge is power !! I guess I'm headed in the right direction
though as I havent played on my 360 for aaages, since my son was born
really. Pretty sure playing that for hours on end all these years
didn't help one bit. Anyway thats enough for now. I will update my
sparkly new blog with any productive training I get in, diet
revelations etc over the next week or so.
Ciao !!!!
