Alan Williams Proud of Hyde MMA Crew

At the 'Blitz at the Ritz' show on Friday night, Hyde MMA went 2-2, taking a title home in the process. After a night of quality scraps promoted by Danny Hornsby's new company UCC MMA, their head coach Alan Williams caught up with MMA Hit Pit to discuss how he felt the night went.
"The thing is, two competitions in two weeks is really hard, and at the end of the day, they all did splendidly tonight," said Alan, in reference to the fact his men featured on the Clash of Warriors show on March 6th as well as the more recent Manchester event.
"[Danny] Boomer just got a bit tired and there was a lucky punch against him; it's a simple as that," he declared about his charge, who was stopped in a semi-pro bout against Lloyd Harrop early in the show.
"With Lee Johnson," Williams continued, "We thought he actually nicked it, because in round three he was keeping his opponent [Andy Evans]at the end of his jab and was chucking good punches. He got took down at the end of the round though, and that's what lost him the fight, but he'll come back because he's a really good kid."
In spite of these losses though, the fact his club took the UCC Welterweight Title home went some way to repairing the damage.
"Leigh Cohoon was marvellous," beamed Williams, who created Hyde MMA in June 2002. "He knew he was going to take that title, and he had no doubt in his mind at all about it. The team didn't either, because we knew he'd waited a long time for this. He's always wanted a belt, he's a bit of a star, and tonight he's got what he wanted, and I'm so, so proud of him. I hope he trains as hard as he can, keeps improving and listens to me, because every time he listens to me, he does really well, just like all the guys do. Everything I say, they try and keep to, and every time they do, they fight really, really well."
Not to forget his other winner that night though, Williams commented on Craig Chesters' first round victory over Neil Harwood. "'Tyson' also did a marvellous job," he beamed, also stating, "He did really well."
"I'm actually proud of them all," a happy trainer carried on. "They all did a great job. When you lose, you've just got to work out where you went wrong, and both of my guys will come back, but 'Tyson' did great, as did Leigh Cohoon, who's got his belt now, so he's happy."
To conclude, Alan sent out warning signals to Andy Evans and Lloyd Harrop who beat his men on Friday. "We're only getting better. We're hoping in time to get rematches with the guys that beat us, and next time, there'll be totally different stories. We'll have to take it as it comes, but I'm sure that given the chance again, they'll turn the tables around."
