Cage Contender Hits Manchester With Mitchell vs Nelson Main Event 03 Aug 2010 Just a month after producing the biggest event in European history, Cage Contender, the world's fastest growing mixed martial arts organization, continues its expansion across Europe when the promotion lands in Manchester, England on August 28 with Cage Contender VI.

Building off the success of their previous five shows, Cage Contender CEO John Ferguson has committed to delivering the U.K. fans the same high quality event that has earned the Irish-based organization accolades throughout the rest of Europe, and  internationally.

The main event, set to take place from Altrincham Leisure Centre, will feature two of MMA's best welterweight prospects. Icelandic poster boy and grappling wizard Gunnar Nelson will take on England's Danny Mitchell. Nelson is undefeated in six professional bouts, having finished all six fights. Four of those stoppages have come due to strikes, showing that Nelson is much more than just a submission artist. Mitchell, at 8-1, is coming off of his first professional loss, has a formidable mix of power and submission skills. He is certain to be a true test any fighter. The kid from Yorkshire, England will be able to match Nelson step for technical step when they meet inside the cage.

Cage Contender VI will be broadcast as part of Cage Contender's incredible worldwide television deal. All Cage Contender events are broadcast in Australia, Ireland, Canada, Asia, U.K., and Africa.

Also a part of the August 28 event, will be three fan friendly bantamweight bouts: Cage Rage and UFC veteran Leigh Remedios (17-7-2) will face Ireland's Neil "2 Tap" Seery (7-7); with Seery tipped for success in WEC, the stakes are massive. Scotland's James "Turbo" Doolan (10-3) steps in against Gregg Knapp (5-3) and Manchester's own Declan "Kid Dynamite" Williams (4-2-2) will go to war with 7-1 Irish prospect Damian "The Rage" Rooney. Rounding out the already announced card are middleweights Tony Moran and Chris Fields, and popular welterweights Leeroy Barnes and the highly rated Warren Kee.

More fights and fighters will be announced as the event approaches.
