'Denzil' Thomas Excited Ahead of Rosfort Test 29 Mar 2010 By Dean Parr

On 17th April, Daniel 'Denzil' Thomas (17-6) will partake in his biggest fight to date as he squares off against hard hitting Dane Kenneth Rosfort (13-2). Thomas is buzzing ahead of this huge contest.

"It's going to be great," stated the Rhondda Valley man. "I'm looking forward to this fight more than anything to be honest. I'm over the moon my team have got me this fight."

Rosfort is the big favourite going into this, but this doesn't affect 'Denzil' in the slightest. "When you're the underdog," he began, "The other people underestimate you and sometimes you find they don't train as hard. Training's going really good, and to be honest, being the underdog makes me train harder. It's like last Thursday - I was in bed and then at 11:30 at night I just went running. Even with the guys he's beat, all I'm thinking about is proving myself and how I'll win against him."

Indeed, Kenneth Rosfort does have impressive credentials. He holds victories over the likes of TUF 9 alum Jeff 'Ippon' Lawson, as well as Franco De Leonardis and Diego Gonzalez. His only losses to date have come at the hands of the UFC's Dennis Siver and top WEC contender Anthony Njokuani.

"He's a bit of a banger that's won most of his fights by TKO, he's got one sub and he's won a few by decision," said Thomas on his future foe. "To be honest though, I'm pretty confident standing with him. We'll just see how the fight goes. If I'm struggling with the stand-up though, because he does hit hard, I'll get into a wrestle with him and use my skills to take him down and look for the finish."

The Welshman is also not phased by having to travel abroad for this contest. He declared, "It's always good to fight away for the experience. It would have been nice to fight back home, but when an opportunity like this comes, you've just got to take it."

Thomas is currently on a fine run of form, having won his last seven fights. "Before, I was taking fights on short notice, but now I'm training hard for every fight, I've upped my training and I'm working with better people," he said, providing the reason for this great burst of results. "I've got people pushing me now like my strength and conditioning, boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu and MMA coaches."

He continued, "After this fight, I'm in a four man tournament, but my main concern is to take things one fight at a time, and I'm not thinking about that now, I'm one-hundred percent thinking about Rosfort. As it gets closer, I'll get more and more excited, and I just can't wait for it."

There is no chance of this being an easy night's work for the Warrior Promotions fighter, but a win here could propel Thomas to the big leagues. As every MMA fan knows, no fighter is unbeatable, and 'Denzil' along with his army of loyal supporters will be hoping that on the day, he has what it takes to defeat Rosfort.
