Mayhem Fight Night 3: Review 16 Jun 2010 By Dale Gravell and Chris Hilde

The Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli played host to Rumble in Tumble 3, an mixed combat event which consisted of nine MMA bouts and two boxing exhibits. Welsh MMA Alum Liam Bennett headlined the card making this his third time fighting in a Rumble in Tumble event.

The night started off strongly with Llanelli local Kaine Bowler putting in a gutsy effort, to comeback and submit slugger Dan Barlow in the third round after being hit with some heavy shots in the previous rounds. This was followed by an explosive arm bar finish by Wayne Davies, when he took down and submitted Mathew Walters in 34 seconds. Other early finishes came from Gar Vaughn, Darrell Jenkins, Craig Allan and Rob Banford. Who all scored submissions via choke except for Vaughn, who was able to pound out his opponent, early in the first.
However the fight of the night had to be the three round war between hometown favourite Dai Matthews and Team Mayhem powerhouse Lee Bradley. The match went back and forth, with Bradley being aggressive and Matthews being patient. Bradley came to brawl. Throwing wild winging punches, with his chin way up in the air leading to Matthews tagging and knocking Bradely to one knee, but he quickly recovered. Bradley however was saved by the bell at the end of round one, where Matthews had a Rear Naked Choke sunk in, but he ran out of time. The second round was just as frantic. Both men scoring takedowns and battling for ground position before Matthews attempted a sloppy arm bar, which Bradley escaped and gained top position, from there he attempted a Kimura and controlled the rest of the round. Round 3 was all Bradley, with Matthews looking tired. Bradley scored a massive takedown and controlled the rest of the fight, picking up an unanimous decision victory, 29-28 from each judge.

The two headliners were over quicker than the fighters entrances. Crowd favourite and Serial Killer lookalike Rob Schneider, flew out of his corner and blasted his opponent with punches, which opened a cut on his head, pending a doctor stoppage giving Schneider his first win. While in the main event, heavy hitting Liam Bennett only needed 30 seconds to beat Debutant Lee Warlow by rear naked choke.

The night all together was very exciting with fighters such as Darrell Jenkins, Wayne Davies, Lee Bradley and Dai Matthews all looking impressive. There was a high energy from the crowd and a good show from MC Ricky Wright and debutant ref Chris Hughes. A very professional show, and a very enjoyable night.
