“Mayhem” Returns To The Rough House
04 Jul 2008
Warrior Promotions UK MMA Limited are proud to announce yet another exciting Welterweight War at Cage Warriors: Enter The Rough House 7. As the fiery Team Ultimate Force member Wayne “Mayhem” Murray (4-1-0) returns to Nottingham and looks for his second Rough House scalp when he faces the Team Rough House BJJ Coach Lee Livingstone (4-1-0) on July 12th at the Harvey Hadden Sports Centre in Nottingham.
Wayne Murray has been a regular on the Yorkshire based Ultimate Force promotion where he has impressed many due to his hard hitting style which has seen him chop down opponents, whilst utilizing some punishing ground and pound when the fight hits the floor. Known in the UK MMA scene as a big powerful Welterweight who can bully people around the cage, he has also shown he has the skills to submit his opponents with two submission wins under his belt. This included a stunning modified guillotine choke over the Frenchman Djamel Moula last July.
Although he suffered a setback soon after when he lost by a Rear Naked Choke against Gary Kelly (the brother of UFC star Paul Kelly) in Liverpool; Murray has bounced back in style by submitting the Nottingham based Total Dojo fighter Cliff Hall last October. Then Murray made it two straight wins when he defeated the durable Irishman Mark O'Toole in April by decision. In that bout Murray stifled any attacks from the EFR Fight Team member and controlled the fight from top position with his ground strikes.
However Murray is best remembered by CWFC fans for stopping the Rough House fighter Dean Amasinger back at Enter The Rough House 1 in December 2006. On that night Murray showed his tenacity by withstanding a brutal high tempo onslaught from the young Rough House fighter, which included a barrage of slams and ground and pound in round 1. However Murray's patience was well rewarded when he finally imposed his game on a tiring and inexperienced Amasinger to win by TKO in round 2.
Murray now returns to Nottingham and will be looking to go 2-0 against the “Rough House” when he faces their BJJ Coach Lee Livingstone on July 12th At the Harvey Hadden Sports Centre. Livingstone (4-1-0) is another Rough House fighter who has worked through the ranks, not only is he a talented fighter with good all round skills, he is also a Purple Belt in BJJ and is also the owner of the Bushido MMA Academy in Nottingham where most of the Rough House team train.
Training with the likes of Dan “the Outlaw” Hardy, Jim Wallhead, Paul Daley and Andre Winner has improved Livingstone's stand-up skills and he is now a far more dangerous prospect than the BJJ stylist who made waves back in 2005 when he racked up a 3-0 record in the CW Quest feeder shows (Where he defeated the likes of Paul Cooper and Mick Sinclair in some impressive performances).
Livingstone then took some time out before turning Pro at Enter The Rough House 2 in 2007 where he defeated the BJJ Black Belt Eduardo Mahal in a gritty but technical 3 round contest. Livingstone then went on to defeat Kevin Reed at ETRH 3 scoring an impressive knockout after landing some heavy knees to the head of the scrappy Welshman; before inflicting the first MMA defeat on the K-1 MAX Europe runner up Marius Buzinskas by negating his striking ability and slickly submitting him with a rear naked choke in round 1.
However Livingstone's unbeaten streak was brought to an abrupt end at the hands of the Wolfslair Academy's Polish import Lukasz Les. Les stepped in on a few days notice and disrupted the game plan of the Rough House fighter with his fast, sharp and unorthodox grappling style which ultimately led the Polish Welterweight tapping out Livingstone with a painful Achilles lock mid way through round 1.
Nevertheless Livingstone returned in April this year and although he suffered more frustration after his original opponent pulled out with less than 72 hours notice. The CWFC team managed to get him a last minute replacement in the form of Adam Bairstow (who is a training partner of former UFC vet and CWFC fighter Ross Pointon). Livingstone took no chances and took the striker to the mat and submitted him with a rear naked choke. Now Livingstone returns again and makes his sixth professional appearance inside the CWFC cage against another late opponent in the form of powerful Muay Thai striker Wayne “Mayhem” Murray.
Will Livingstone increase his impressive record and avenge his team mate's loss? Or will the ever improving Murray wreck the BJJ fighter's plans and cause more Mayhem in Nottingham. Find out on July 12th as Cage Warriors put on another top quality Welterweight bout.
This show also features the return of the ProElite contracted star Paul "Semtex" Daley as he takes on the unbeaten Slovenian Kombat League Champion Bojan "Zelva" Kosednar. It also features a mouthwatering Welterweight clash between Matt “12 Gauge” Thorpe and the unbeaten Norwegian starlet Simeon “The Grin” Thoresen. Whilst two time British Champion 'Judo' Jimmy Wallhead squares off against the Italian based Brazilian BJJ Black Belt Fabricio Nascimento.
If that isn't enough ETRH 7 also sees a top UK Lightweight clash between Andre Winner and Abdul Mohammed, a CWFC Bantamweight Title bout between reigning Champion Paul “Metabolic” McVeigh and the Irish challenger Steve “Taz” McCombe. Whilst the top end of this stacked card is finalised by the return of former Nottingham pro boxing star Wayne Buck as he faces his toughest test to-date against the powerful Italian Muay Thai fighter Matteo Minonzio. This card also features a full undercard featuring some of the best up-and-coming UK talents and is not to be missed !
