Quick Interview with Chad Reiner
05 Aug 2010
By Ben Cartlidge
It’s always nice on the Hit Pit to be able to talk to a wide variety of fighters from all over the world and today was no exception as we caught up with UFC and Cage Warriors veteran, Chad “The Grinder” Reiner.
Chad, it’s good to get the chance to talk. What have you been up to for the past few months?
Training a lot and working on some new stuff. I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on my striking, wrestling and some other tricks.
You’ve been fighting for a while now, how have you seen the sport evolve over the course of your career?
I really can’t believe how it has blown up so much. I started fighting amateur back in 2002
How far do you feel you have evolved as a fighter throughout your career?
There is always something new to learn, you can never master any aspect of the sport because something is changing or someone is thinking up something new.
How far do you think you are away from another shot at the UFC?
I will leave that up to management, I just fight.
Do you think that there is anyone who has a good chance of dethroning George St Pierre at the moment?
I am not sure, George has a great drive and him and Anderson Silva will be hard to beat for awhile.
You’ve fought for a wide range of promotions around the world, what is your opinion of the lifestyle of a traveling fighter?
It’s the highest of highs and the lowest of lows; I always tell my friends I need my own reality show.
Describe a typical weeks training as you prepare for a big fight.
Wrestling, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, Yoga, watching films, Ice baths, massages…I think that sums most of it up.
You’ve had a lot of good wins recently, what do attribute this success to?
Simply hard work and good coaches, there’s no secret to it.
What’s next for Chad Reiner?
More of the same I hope, I want to keep fighting and traveling the world.
Is there any sponsors or friends that you’d like to give a mention to at this time?
I’d like to thank my sponsors Kent Plummer Chiropractic, FSI nutrition and EnviroWorks.
