Savage Fight Night 2: Review 27 Nov 2009 By Dale Gravell

Savage Promotions put on their second live event on Sunday with Savage Fight Night 2. The event consisted of nine bouts which varied from Mixed Martial Arts to Cage Boxing. The event consisted of three different styles of match-up, with the Mixed Martial Arts matches stealing the show with two three round wars.

The first of the three round slugfests was between Rhondda fighter Daniel Clark and local fan favourite Ryan Ozgood. The fight was contested under amateur B class rules however both fighters did not hold back with both Clark and Ozgood getting good positions and taking a round each. The third round however was clearly dominated by Ozgood, with him mounting Clark and finishing in top position, but the Judges determined that the fight was a draw. Both Ozgood and Clark looked disappointed, but more so Ozgood who believed he had won the fight.

The fight of the night was the fight between Joe Orrey and Matt Eynon, both competitors came out banging with Orrey using he reach and Eynon throwing haymakers, the fight quickly became a battle of the clinch game with Matt and Joe each taking a round respectively however in the third round there was more controversy as Matt Eynon opened up on Orrey with big punches and finished the round in the mount. The Judges gave the fight in favour of Orrey who relied on his toughness and ability to take a punch to get him through the last round.

Fighter of the night was Levi Jenkins who put a beating on his opponent Mido Kafaar. Jenkins was explosive and powerful, continually hitting Kafaar with kicks and knees before stopping his opponent with a massive knee which lead to blood spewing out of Kafaars nose and mouth.

The main event was contest between undefeated Chris Lewis and Kristian Evans in a light-heavyweight contest. Lewis used his experience to take Evans down and finish him using elbows from the crucifix position after just 2.56 of the very first round taking his record to 5 wins and 0 losses . Also a good submission win for Dan Kennedy and a decision victory for Jamie Rogers who systematically picked apart a tough Stuart Tyrie in the co main event.

The night was enjoyed by the fans because of the fighters grit and determination to win. The fighters put on great fights in the MMA matches and proved to be very entertaining contests.
