Savage Fight Night 3: Review
19 Aug 2010
By Dale Gravell
Tondu Cricket Club was the venue for Savage Fight Night 3 on Sunday held by Savage Promotions. As the two fight nights the card was stacked with solid match-ups and great scraps.
The first MMA match of the night was between lightweights Paul Rogers of Gracie Barra Swansea and George Crews from Dogs of War. Both competitors were making their debut in the cage. The fight started out with both fighters throwing leather before clinching and hitting each other with big knee shots. The match from there was a close back and forth battle with Crews hitting takedowns and throws and Rogers gaining mount twice and hitting a loud head kick to the crowds pleasure. However neither man did enough to convince the judges of victory as it was held a draw. The fight however was a total war with neither man letting up until the final bell. Another match was between Joe Orrey and Craig Allan, both men came out and went for it before Joe Orrey locked in a tight Guillotine for the win. Another great submission victory went to Shane Riley of Brotherhood MMA who secured a arm triangle from the bottom to beat debutant Jay Bryan in the first. Also debutant Gareth Pugh stood out with his domination of Team Mayhem fighter James Thomas.
The main contest of the evening was between Jamie Rogers from Dogs of War and late replacement Josh Dennis in the middleweight division. Josh Dennis rushed out of the gates and charged at Rogers. Rogers stayed calm and hit Dennis with a clean straight right, causing Dennis to dive in for a take down, from this Rogers sunk in a tight Guillotine and it didnt take long for Dennis to tap. Rogers who is 6-1 in his pro career, looks like we could be seing him taking on some big names in the future.
Overall the night was a great night. The fights were top notch and most fighters came in with the intention of going all out for the win. Another good night of fights from Savage Promotions. Look forward to the next one.
