War on the Mainland: 'Sylvia vs Buentello' 03 Aug 2010





Tim “Maine-iac” Sylvia, two time UFC heavyweight champion goes head to head with former UFC legend of the sport Paul ‘The Headhunter’ Buentello in ‘War on the Mainland’ on August 14th - broadcast exclusively in the UK on Primetime  (Sky channel 480).

Sylvia is currently signed with Adrenaline MMA and is entering this fight with two recent impressive wins under his belt. In September 2009 Sylvia took on and defeated Jason Riley despite breaking his right hand a minute and a half into the fight. Following on from this in May 2010 he destroyed ‘Five Times World’s Strongest Man’ Mariusz Pudzianowski which was also shown on Primetime.

Buentello in contrast is a former UFC contestant released from this promotion due to two straight defeats against Stefan Struve and Cheick Kongo, having recently defeated Bryan Humes in the Texas based Shark Fights Promotion he now has everything to prove in what will be a match-up not to be missed by fans and those new to the sport as they battle it out for the LLC Heavyweight Championship title.

‘War on the Mainland’ originally started as a training clinic that still operates specialising in jiu-jitsu, striking, boxing and kicking at Manna’s Martial Arts in San Diego. Tony Martinez (President of Powerhouse World Promotions) suggested that the clinic turn it’s expertise to into developing a MMA show enabling people from all over the world to experience the skill of the fighters.

As well as Sylvia VS Buentello there are a host of other fights on the bill including Jens “Little Evil” Pulver - fight fans are preparing themselves for an almighty clash when he takes on Soa Palelei Diego “El Nino” Garijo.
